એમેઝોન છટણી: એમેઝોન ટૂંક સમયમાં 18,000 કર્મચારીઓની છટણી કરવા જઈ રહ્યું છે. સૌથી મોટી વાત એ છે કે આ છટણીના અગાઉના અંદાજ કરતા ઘણો વધારે છે. આ ટેક્નોલોજી સેક્ટરમાં મંદી ગાઢ થવાના સંકેતો દર્શાવે છે. એમેઝોનના સીઈઓ એન્ડી જેસીએ બુધવારે સ્ટાફને મોકલેલા મેમોમાં આ જાહેરાત કરી હતી. તેમણે કહ્યું કે આ પગલું કંપનીની વાર્ષિક યોજનાના ભાગરૂપે લેવામાં આવી રહ્યું છે. છટણીની શરૂઆત ગયા વર્ષે થઈ હતી, જ્યારે અંદાજે 10,000 લોકોની છટણી કરવામાં આવી હતી. આ પ્રોસેસ ખાસ કરીને એમેઝોનના રિટેલ વિભાગ અને માનવ રિસર્ચની ભરતી જેવા વિભાગોમાં કંપનીના કોર્પોરેટ રેન્ક પર ધ્યાન કેન્દ્રિત કરશે.

ઘણી ટેક કંપનીઓએ છટણીની જાહેરાત કરી
જોકે મહિનાઓથી એમેઝોનમાં છટણીનો ડર હતો. કંપનીએ સ્વીકાર્યું છે કે તેણે રોગચાળા દરમિયાન ઘણા લોકોને છૂટા કર્યા છે. આ કારણે કંપનીનું આઉટલૂક નબળું પડી ગયું છે. એમેઝોન પહેલા, ઘણી અન્ય ટેક કંપનીઓએ છટણીની જાહેરાત કરી છે. અગાઉ બુધવારે, સેલ્સફોર્સ ઇન્કએ તેના લગભગ 10% કર્મચારીઓને છૂટા કરવાની અને તેની રિયલ એસ્ટેટ હોલ્ડિંગ ઘટાડવાની યોજનાની જાહેરાત કરી હતી.

એમેઝોનની આ જાહેરાત પર તેના રોકાણકારોએ સકારાત્મક પ્રતિક્રિયા આપી હતી. ધ વોલ સ્ટ્રીટ જર્નલ દ્વારા આ સમાચારની પ્રથમ જાણ થયા બાદ એમેઝોનના શેરમાં લગભગ 2 ટકાનો વધારો થયો હતો.
વર્તમાન મંદી દરમિયાન 18,000 કર્મચારીઓની છટણી ટેક કંપનીઓ માટે સૌથી મોટો કાપ હશે. જો કે, અન્ય સિલિકોન વેલી સ્પર્ધકોની સરખામણીમાં, એમેઝોન પાસે કર્મચારીઓની સંખ્યા નોંધપાત્ર રીતે મોટી છે. ગયા વર્ષે સપ્ટેમ્બરના અંત સુધીમાં તેના કર્મચારીઓની સંખ્યા 15 લાખથી વધુ હતી. આમ, વર્તમાન છટણી તેના કુલ કર્મચારીઓના લગભગ 1% છે.
